How should I export my episode?

Once your episode is recorded and edited it's time to export it and upload it to nightcast.

Nightcast doesn't perform and post-processing or further compression to your files so you can export them with whatever settings you desire.

However export settings may be confussing and you may not know what's the best compromise between quality and file size.

Here's our recommendations:

  • File Format: MP3
  • Bitrate: 128kbps for stereo, 64kbps for mono
  • Mono if your episode includes only voice
  • Stereo if you have music or sound effects
  • Sample Rate: 44.1khz
  • Bit Depth: 16bit PCM
  • CBR (Constant Bit Rate)

We find that for podcasts 128kbps is a great compression setting and quality won't be compromissed. Furthermore the file size will be small so your audience can listen without interruptions on slow internet connections or mobile data.
